Having a hosted server means that we have paid for a server with a certain amount of space and computational capacity. This means that no disk rent will be charged for projects hosted on this server.

Whether a project is located on a hosted server or at one of Statistics Denmark's own servers (shared server) does not affect permits, upload, and transfer procedures, etc.

As an employee at one of our three departments, you are free to transfer or create your project to/on the server.

Creating a project on a hosted server requires that a research project application has been approved for Statistics Denmark: Project creation

Once your research project application for Statistics Denmark has been approved by your head of department and by Statistics Denmark, your project is ready to be created.

When you send your approved application to Research Service (forskningsservice@dst.dk), you simply ask to have the project created on the server: SRVFSEAUSOCSCI1. Remember to state the project number (70xxxx) when writing to Research Service.

To move a project to the server, simply write an email to your contact person at Research Service at Statistics Denmark, asking them to move your project to the server.

In the email, you must state the number (70xxxx) of the project you want to move, as well as the name of the server: SRVFSEAUSOCSCI1.

Software solutions in Statistics Denmark's shared servers are set up in a certain way. With a hosted server, we have access to standard software solutions from Statistics Denmark as well as software solutions for which we are responsible.

Therefore, the interface and shortcuts may look slightly different on a hosted server, but you have access to the same software and programs.

Access to projects, upload, moving and retrieval of files to send home etc. take place in the same way whether your project is located on a hosted server or on one of Statistics Denmark’s shared servers.

What you use Research Service for today will therefore be the same when the project is hosted on a hosted server. In other words, you can use a hosted server in exactly the same way as you use a shared server at Statistics Denmark.

If the data is not on the server as expected, please contact DST Research Service (your contact person or the Research Service mailbox): forskningsservice@dst.dk).

If you have problems connecting to the server and this is not caused by some issue with your own network and Internet connection, you must contact Statistics Denmark’s service desk: servicedesk@dst.dk .

Always state the name of the server when contacting the service desk: SRVFSEAUSOCSCI1.

Slow runs can be caused by technical errors or overload.

Contact CALDISS if you find that the server is slower than usual.
