DROP IN TO THIS 3-HOUR INTRODUCTORY WORKSHOP AND GET STARTED WITH R!
What is R?
R is both a software solution and a programming language. It is a widely used and very diverse data analysis tool and can be used for statistics, text mining and machine learning.
Why R?
Compared to other, more specialized software solutions, R can be adapted and used for many purposes and types of analysis. Cutting-edge methods make their way to R before most other analysis software because it is open source.
R (like python) allows one to be more creative and experimental in ideas. That is why competencies in software like R is in increasing demand - and it's free!
This workshop will cover:
- Working with the R language and RStudio
- Creating variables and objects
- Importing and exporting data - also from other software like Excel and STATA
- Creating simple visualizations
After finising this introduction, you can request additional CALDISS workshops to expand your data science competencies.
Installing R & RStudio
The workshop teaches R using RStudio. To make the most out of the workshops, it is recommended you install both R and RStudio before the workshop.
Make sure to install R before installing RStudio. If you have any problems, please bring them at the workshop.
